Send-In Billing Policies
Insight Medical Genetics is committed to providing patients with a streamlined process for the billing of genetic testing, including the submission of insurance claims and appeals. While we are recognized by many major insurance providers, this does not guarantee that services will be covered. Insurance bill and Self-Pay patients are required to provide a credit card or debit card within a secure and compliant database for unpaid balances. Any applicable co-pays, deductible or co-insurance amounts as well as charges not paid or covered are the patient’s responsibility. Please contact us with additional questions.
Insurance Billing
Insight Medical Genetics accepts most commercial insurance policies. Once a sample is received, Insight Medical Genetics will confirm if a patient’s insurance is active and includes genetic benefits. If insurance benefits are not able to be confirmed, the patient will be considered a Self-pay patient. Self-pay patients or patients seeking care outside of their insurance plan benefits are expected to make payments in full prior to the testing being run.
Insight Medical Genetics requires a credit/debit card be kept on file within our secure and compliant database for any unpaid balances prior to initiating testing. Tests will be placed on hold, until the credit/debit card information is received.
*Please Note, Insight Medical Genetics is currently not a Medicare or Medicaid provider. We are unable to accept patient samples with these types of insurances. Medicare and Medicaid patients will therefore be considered Self-Pay.
Self-pay patients will be required to pay the total amount of test fees or establish a payment plan prior to initiating testing. See our self-pay price list here. We do accept credit and debit cards for self-pay payments (Master Card, Visa, AmEx, and Discover). Self-pay patients will be contacted upfront for payment when the sample is received. Patients may also contact the Insight Medical Genetics Financial Services Representative at 312-374-6400 to provide credit card information upon sample submission. Tests will be delayed if payment is not received. In the event of a failed or non-resulted test, a self-pay patient may request a refund for previously paid tests.
